ROK hosts first EnROK mentoring session

The ROK team today ran the first EnROK mentoring session, part of our new partnership with Enfield Council.

Held at St. Ignatius College in Enfield, the session started with ROK lead mentor co-ordinator Tee Max and law & anthropology graduate Lade giving an overview of the structure of the mentoring programme.

Next up was an activity called a ‘bog roll opener’ aimed at encouraging each of the 10 mentees to say something about themselves (and yes, it really did involve loo roll!), after which each mentor briefly introduced themselves too.

The session moved onto one-on-one time between each mentee and mentor. Looking around the room, it was incredibly encouraging to see that, even though they were meeting their own mentors for the first time, the vast majority of mentees were really engaged – in the past, this has taken two or three sessions!

All in all, a great start to the EnROK and we look forward to continuing the rollout of the mentoring programme.

With thanks to ROK trustee Edward Flood for reporting on the event.
