ROK and GSK’s global race and ethnicity employee resource group EMBRACE mark new partnership with successful careers carousel
11 July 2023
Reach Out 2 Kids (ROK) has marked the start of a new partnership with EMBRACE, global biopharma company GSK’s global race and ethnicity employee resource group (ERG), with a successful careers’ carousel at ROK partner school Clapton Girls' Academy.
EMBRACE ERG is focused on racial, ethnic and cultural diversity within GSK, and works across the organisation to create a diverse and inclusive environment at every level and enable diverse employees to reach their full potential.
The event saw eight GSK professionals from a wide variety of departments, including research and development, human resources and global supply chain, deliver engaging presentations to Year 9 students across eight different classrooms over the course of an hour.
The partnership will see the EMBRACE ERG support ROK’s efforts to promote careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths) and healthcare to students at ROK’s partner schools.
This will be delivered through a series of events and initiatives, including potential inclusion in ROK careers presentations, routes to GSK apprenticeships and Insight into STEM sessions.
Commenting on the partnership, ROK founder and CEO Denise Stephenson said:
“We are thrilled to be working in partnership with GSK in the UK and the EMBRACE ERG and supporting their commitment to improving cultural and racial diversity throughout the organisation.
“Highlighting the many career opportunities available in the STEM and healthcare sector is a key focus for ROK in 2023 and given GSK’s long-held position as a leader in the field of vaccine and medicine research and development, we’re incredibly excited about the valuable learning opportunities that this partnership will create for ROK students.”
“We look forward to embarking upon this exciting journey with EMBRACE, who we would like to thank once again for extending their partnership and support."
