ROK hosts virtual STEM sector evening for Clapton Girls' Academy

10 February 2022

ROK was pleased to host a virtual STEM sector evening for students at Clapton Girls’ Academy on Thursday 10 February, providing a valuable insight into careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

During the event, Ferdosi Abbott and Weronika Biala, both industrial placement students from GSK, spoke about their careers journeys to date, with Ferdosi providing an overview of her role within the research and development team, focused on biopharma discovery.

Aaron Samuel, head of business intelligence at Tide Bank and ROK Ambassador, gave an overview of his education and career path to date, as well as a ‘day in the life’ in his current role.

Myles Mugo, a graduate quantity surveyor at Exigere, spoke about his transition into the built-in environment, maths and engineering and the accreditation route for a chartered quantity surveyor.

Myles is not only a ROK ambassador but also a previous mentee of ROK, so we were particularly pleased and proud to have him present at the event.

The students were engaged and interested throughout the event, and had the opportunity to ask a range of insight questions.

A huge thank you to our speakers and to Clapton Girls’ Academy for making the event such a success!
